De Oude Kerk – Germaine Kruip

Germaine Kruip. Geometry of the Scattering Germaine Kruip. Geometry of the Scattering

From November 26 2015 until March 27 2016 the ‘Oude Kerk’ will present an exhibition titled Geometry of the Scattering, with Dutch artist Germaine Kruip. In cooperation with curator Krist Gruijthuijsen an ensemble of work was chosen that has never before been shown in the Netherlands. Along with new work inspired by the monumental ‘Oude Kerk’ building such as A Square, Spoken and Oude Kerk Untitled the exhibition also contains older work by Kruip, altered for the sake of the church space. An example of this is Column Untitled (2011-2015) a meters high repetition of marble fragments.

The Mondriaan Fund contributed to Geometry of the Scattering with a Project Grant for Art Platforms, Museums and other Heritage Institutes.

Throughout the exhibition, every Saturday there will be room for participation in the performance work A Square, spoken. Herein an actor guides the visitors through the church, while he or she speaks on the history of the square. In the months February and March, to accompany the exhibition, the ‘Oude Kerk’ will be organizing the public programme Come Closer for the second time. This programme consists of a series of conversations and presentations:
